I read recently that Jennifer Aniston, ageless American beauty, dedicates her Sunday’s to just that: her beauty regimen. It can be really hard to make time to do face masks, hair masks, dry brushing, shaving, moisturizing, etc, but I know that I don’t feel like my best self when I don’t pamper. Like Rachel Green – I mean, Jennifer Aniston – I dedicate my Sunday nights to myself. If you go into the week with a good mind/body mood, you’re more likely to have a good week! It’s a good practice to get into if one of your New Year’s resolutions was to practice self-love and adopt the Hygge lifestyle this year. Here are some of the things I like to do to take care of myself on a Sunday…
SKINCARE: I try to sheet mask as much as possible during the week, because I can do them in bed and then go right to sleep. I hate waiting for clay masks to dry and then having to get up and wash them off, so I leave that for the weekend. Right now, I’m loving Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque. HAIRCARE: I am extremely lazy about doing hair masks because my hair is so thick that it takes forever to wash them out. But if I do decide do make the effort, I’ll use coconut oil or castor oil, which usually take about three shampoos to fully cleanse from my mane. If I’m less patient, I’ll use my Oribe Signature Mask, which I can apply in the shower and rinse out before shampooing. BODY: Adding oil to a bubble bath is the easiest way to hydrate your skin, and it adds a little luxury to the bathing experience! I like to dry-brush before getting into a hot bath to get rid of dry skin and stimulate circulation. I’ll also moisturize with Jergens Wet Skin Monoi Oil Moisturizer right after every bath or shower.
MIND: I like to clear my mind and center myself before every week. Sometimes this means a little yoga on my fluffy area rug, or just listening to a soothing playlist. If you resolved to learn how to meditate this year, Marie Claire has some great apps to help you get started.
MAKE LISTS: I love to make lists. Nothing feels better than seeing your goals, chores, even groceries written out and ready to be conquered! I always look over my planner, work calendar, and phone calendar and make sure they’re all aligned. It definitely helps to write everything down in my planner, rather than on my phone.
CLEAN HOUSE: It can be hard to make time to really clean during the week, but I need to live in a clean home, so on the weekends I like to vacuum, tidy up the kitchen, and clean out the fridge. It feels so good to enter the week knowing I’ll be coming home to a clean apartment.
READ: Most nights, I’m too tired to read after a long day. But Sunday’s I try to read at least a few pages of a book. It’s way healthier for your mind and sleep cycle than Netflix, and I’m always so proud of myself.
Have a great weekend! Love, Me
