As someone who is now hyper-vigilant about cleansing and skincare, I am pretty horrified that my routine used to consist of a makeup wipe. Nowadays, I like to take off my makeup and wash my face as soon as I get home from work. Besides being a really nice way to transition from the workday into a relaxing evening, it also ensures that any city grime and pollution on my skin doesn’t have time to sink in. If you live in an urban environment, it is especially important to take good care of your skin. I’ve lived in big cities in my entire life, Boston, New York, Tel Aviv, and my skin always suffered when I didn’t keep it clean. My makeup didn’t look as good, and I always had to wear more to cover up my skin. So today I’ve rounded up my favorite, most relaxing, loveliest face cleansers. Make it a daily ritual; your skin will thank you!
The travel option: Su:m 37 Miracle Rose Cleanser Stick is a permanent fixture in my carryon when I travel. It’s made with my favorite skincare ingredient, rose, and easily takes off my makeup and gets me clean and glowing without drying out my skin. Best part: stick packaging makes it TSA-friendly and it won’t leak or spill in your bag.
The worthwhile splurge: Eve Lom Cleanser is one of the best products I’ve ever used, across the board. You can read my review of it from last week here.
The luxurious oil: Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil is a new addition to my routine, but I love everything about it. It smells amazing, and gently hydrates my skin while taking off all my makeup, even my many coats of mascara.
The drugstore option: Cetaphil Dermacontrol Foam Wash is the brand’s classic cleanser, but formulated for oily and acne-prone skin. If you’re on a budget, you can’t go wrong with Cetaphil.
The one that makes you glow: Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Cleansing Foam is always my last step in the shower. This cleanser makes my skin incredibly soft and radiant, and even though it’s a bit pricey (I actually got mine on sale), you only need the smallest drop, so one bottle will last you a very long time.
The favorite: Glossier Milky Jelly is the “If I only had to use one cleanser for the rest of my life” product. It works well on wet or dry skin, takes off my makeup, cleanses and hydrates my skin, and has never irritated my face, even at its dryest.
