In the past year or so, I’ve noticed a shift in my spending priorities: more skincare, less makeup. I’d rather have healthy, glowing, natural skin than a face full of makeup. I admit I’m also a bit of a skincare snob; most of my skincare is either Korean or from Glossier and Sephora.
But there is one drugstore brand that I will never forsake, and that is Neutrogena. I’ve written before about their face powder that I can’t live without, which, because all of Neutrogena’s products are dermatologist-tested, hypoallergenic, and noncomedogenic, I also consider to be skincare. But today is all about Neutrogena’s incredible Hydro Boost line, a comprehensive skin regimen centered around hero ingredient hyaluronic acid. This line has only been around for a few years, but the original products have already reached cult status.
Let’s back up for a moment, though, and talk about hyaluronic acid. HA is a sugary molecule found naturally in your body’s skin and connective tissue. HA is kind of a rock star; it retains almost 1000x its weight in water, so it helps keep you moisturized and in tip-top shape. Of course, as we age, our bodies have a harder time retaining moisture, so we lose the plumpness and lift that HA and collagen provide. Products with HA can get through the layers of your skin and plump them up while simultaneously providing a serious moisture boost.
Every product in Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost line is made with HA. This means you’re moisturizing and treating your skin to plumping goodness every step of the way. I’ve been using Water Gel, one of the original products, for over a year now, and I love the way my skin drinks in the lightweight mixture. My skin looks and feels healthier and glowing after every use. If your skin is particularly dry, they make a Gel Cream version as well, which I switch to in the winter for added hydration. Lately, I’ve also been using the new hydrating serum and concealer. The serum is purified hyaluronic acid, and the lightweight liquid sinks right into your skin. Some days, I don’t even feel like I need to apply moisturizer on top! The concealer is very creamy, even in stick form, and has a hydrating core, so it blends incredibly well. It’s also ophthalmologist-tested, so it’s safe for even the most sensitive eyes. All of the products in the Hydro Boost line are lightly fragrant, but it’s a pleasant, fresh scent that I don’t think most people would mind.
I’m very happy to have a streamlined set like Hydro Boost in my arsenal. The products work so well, individually and together to give me great skin. If you’re looking to get that natural glow, I highly recommend stopping into your local drugstore and picking up some of these products. It’s never too soon to start taking care of your skin…
