The Makeup Brushes I Use Every Day

I realize that in all the years I’ve had this blog, I’ve never done a post on my makeup brushes!  So today is all about the brushes I use.  Now, I’ll be honest, my feeling is that if you’re good enough at your makeup, to an extent, the brushes you use don’t really matter.  I also wear a lot less makeup than I used to, so I have less use for brushes.  For those reasons, I’ve never really seen the point in spending a lot of money on expensive brushes.

Eyes

I rarely wear any eye makeup other than mascara, but when I do, I use the brushes that come with my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette.

Liquid

I use Real Technique’s Expert Face Brush to blend my Armani Luminous Silk Foundation.  I put a little face oil on the back of my hand to mix with a few drops of my foundation, and it really gives me a glowing, natural finish rather than a cakey look.

I don’t wear foundation often, but I wear a little concealer every day under my eyes and around my nose.  I use a Sephora Collection Pro brush with my Glossier Stretch Concealer.

I love a big fluffy brush for even, all-over powder application.  The Real Techniques Powder Brush is my current favorite because it’s really big but the bristles are soft and concentrated, so it blends everything together really well.

Highlight & Contour

I’ve been loving Kim Kardashian’s KKW Beauty Crème Contour and Highlight kit, which comes with a great dual-ended brush and sponge.  I also use the aforementioned Sephora Collection brush to help get an even more natural tone.  I typically press highlighter into my cheekbones and the bridge of my nose with my finger, so it really settles rather than sitting on my skin.

Have a beauty-full week!  Love, Me

  1. I LOVE Real Techniques brushes, I feel like they are not talked about enough, as well as their beauty sponge! The quality is just unbelievable for the price. Thanks for sharing your favorites.

  2. I’ve been wanting to try the KKW Highlight & contour stick but I heard such negative reviews about it. I think a lot of people just don’t like her so they’re quick to write a bad review instead of a good review.
