When it comes to leaving the house, there are two categories of products: mainstays and alternates. Alternates would be defined as the lipstick shade you happen to be wearing that day, eye shadow to transform your day look for a night out, etc., while the mainstays are the products that you can’t live without, the ones you transfer from purse to purse, and panic when you don’t have them. I’m a fairly low-maintenance gal when it comes to carrying around products; I like to travel light.
These are my mainstays…
Image Skincare Ormedic Balancing Lip Enhancement Complex ($18) is a ridiculously big name for such a small tube, but I don’t care, I love it so much. My Heyday facialist Cheryl always puts it on my lips at the end of each session, and I finally bought not one, but two tubes, just to make sure I’m never without it! It’s intensely hydrating, smells faintly of piña colada, and makes my lips perfectly plump. I’ve been recommending it to everyone. [Read my full review]
I’ve been using Chanel Poudre Universelle Compacte ($45) as my pressed powder compact for the past few months, and I like it a lot. My t-zone gets very shiny, and this ultra fine powder helps mattify. Plus, we all know there’s nothing chicer than Chanel.
I always keep a red lipstick in my purse, because sometimes you need a little pick-me-up. It’s great to have in case I decide to go out – a rare occurrence, but a girl’s gotta be prepared. I love Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Color in ‘Gabrielle’ – for obvious reasons – or NARS Audacious Lipstick in ‘Rita.’
I love the Too Cool For School Dinoplatz Dear Brachiosaurus Blotting Paper ($8) compact more than any other blotting papers I’ve tried. They’re easier to use, affordable, and adorable. [Read my full review]
When it comes to lip gloss, I love the plumping effects of Soap & Glory’s XXL Pillow Plump gloss. It gives you the ‘your lips, but better’ vibe, and tingles a lot, so you know it’s working!
