Five Favorites: Summer Moisturizers

When I try to describe my skin in the summer, the only word I can think of is finicky.  It’s prone to sweat-induced acne and hyper-sensitive because, frankly, I love the sun, which dries it out.  Even though I think of summer as my most low-maintenance time of year beauty-wise, taking care of my skin will always require effort.  On even my laziest days, I always slap on a little moisturizer.  These are my favorites:

1.  Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich ($35)

PMR is one of my all-time favorite moisturizers, but I don’t use this during the day in the summer.  I use this to sooth my skin every night, and it’s one of the only things gentle enough for my sun-sensitized skin.

2.  First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer ($28)

This moisturizer is made with superfoods, including coconut and quinoa, and leaves my skin radiant, glowing, and with my pesky pores minimized.

3.  Darphin Hydraskin Light ($62)

52115Gel cream moisturizers are great for lightweight deep hydration, and Darphin’s is one of the bests around.

4. OLEHENRIKSEN Counter Balance™ Oil Control Hydrator ($34)

s1910694-main-lheroI recently discovered Ole Henriksen’s new Balance line, and have been using this lightweight, mattifying moisturizer every day to keep my oily t-zone in check.  I’ve always been a big fan of Ole’s lovely products.  You can read my review on the Pore-Balance™ Facial Sauna Scrub, also from this new line.

5.  Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel ($16)

This moisturizer has reached cult status after only a few years, and it’s pretty obvious why: it’s formulated with hyaluronic acid, the best ingredient for smooth, plump skin and is sold at drugstores everywhere.  At $16, it’s the most affordable product on my list, and one I come back to time and again.
