I love exfoliating. I do it multiple times per week, and revel in the clean, glowing, smooth face I see in the mirror. Everyone’s exfoliation routine is different; some people only need to do it once a week, others are like me, exfoliating almost daily. There are, of course, thousands of products available on the market, including the ones from my segment a few months ago.
With new products such as Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator, I’ve been loving Ole Henriksen even more than usual for my tricky, seasonally-sensitive skin. This new scrub evokes the saunas of Ole’s Scandinavian roots, focusing on the practice of utilizing heat and cooling to refine your skin. Unlike many scrubs which claim to generally resurface or exfoliate your skin, Pore-Balance
is made specifically to target your pores and make them cleaner and smaller. While pore size is genetic, the amount of dirt and bacteria in them determines how big they appear.
I’m never nervous to try out a new Ole Henriksen product; he’s been a king of the skincare industry for decades, and his products are flawless. I decided to test it out while taking a bubble bath; if I couldn’t go to an actual Scandinavian spa, my steamy bathroom would have to do. I applied it, gently rubbing the grainy texture into my skin, focusing extra pressure and product on my t-zone, specifically my nose. Enlarged pores and the occasional blackhead have been my mortal enemy for years; with the rest of my skin virtually clear, they’re the only thing standing in the way of me giving up most of my daily makeup for good.
If you’re not a fan of gritty exfoliators, check out Byrdie writer Faithe Xu’s rave review. This is the one scrub she’ll use!
