It’s been a while since I’ve done a Curated post! I think that it’s because the fashion world is evolving into a place where trends continue to come and go, but certain styles are becoming immortalized in a way that they were not before. My favorite shoe style, backless loafers/mules, for example, have been on everyone’s feet for over a year now, and they’re still being touted as the shoe of the season. I’m thrilled for my shoe collection and my wallet that fashion is adopting mainstays to stand alongside trends!
Trends are fun and cool, and it’s always exciting to fall in love with new or repurposed styles and make them your own. I’m loving all the luxury and comfort I’ve seen on the runways for Fall 2017. But don’t let the luxury confuse you: it’s not a pretentious trend; it feels more like a lesson in self-love: dress only in the softest furs, silks, and satins. Love your body and treat it to rich colors and fun accessories, metallic accents, embroidery, beads, and feathers. To me, it’s a twist on Victorian-era England and Jazz Age New York flappers: beautiful styles, but not ones that feel too ostentatious or ridiculous.
Life is never perfect, nor is it easy to navigate as a young adult. That’s why self-love is so important: how the hell can you function in the world if you’re not even taking care of yourself? Like the airlines always say, put your own oxygen mask on before assisting others. You’re no good to anyone if you’re not good to yourself.
Are you going to love yourself this year?
Love, Me
