Wishlist: December

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and you know what that means in America: wishlists, letters to Santa, and gifts! I celebrate Chanukah, but I am a big fan of Christmas cheer and the good moods everyone seems to be in; it gives me hope, and I wish we could try to be as nice to each other all year long.

For this month’s wishlist, there’s a twist: because today is Giving Tuesday, I’m going to share a few products I want, but the real focus is on a few of my favorite charities. Giving Tuesday, a tradition the week after Thanksgiving, is a day to donate to great causes and bring some more love, change, and progress to people and places that need it the most. This holiday season, any donations you make will make a difference. Get in the giving spirit in the best way! Love, Me

Planned Parenthood – As a proud Nasty Woman, I made a big donation immediately after the election. If you don’t want a bunch of old men dictating your reproductive rights, you should probably do the same.

American Civil Liberties Union – The beliefs this country holds dear: free speech, due process, the right to protest, and many more American pillars are defended by this amazing organization.

Southern Poverty Law Center – I had the honor of visiting the SPLC when I was in high school, and then I read their founder Morris Dees‘ book; this organization is eye-opening beyond belief. Check out their Hate Map, which actively tracks the 892 Hate Groups currently operating in the US. They also chart across the years, and between 2014-2015, the number of groups increased from 784-892. I am positive that that number has only risen since Donald Trump’s candidacy and election.
