When I got invited to my first New York Fashion Week show, my first thought wasn’t ‘how will I get there,’ or ‘where will I stay?’ It was ‘what the hell will I wear?!’ Fashion week is literally all about fashion, so my outfit had to be perfect. Being an over-thinker, I immediately started mentally shuffling through my closet, coming up with combinations and wondering what my favorite bloggers would wear and what the weather would permit. I decided that I would combine a few of fall’s hottest trends while staying true to my casual style and the comfort I refuse to give up for fashion (i.e. no uncomfortable shoes ever.) I enlisted my best friend and my mother for their insights and destroyed my bedroom trying on about twenty outfits!
In the end, I’m so happy with what I wore, and it was definitely a good fit for the styles walking down Rebecca Minkoff’s runway. Silky lingerie is huge right now, and my dark blue camisole felt so luxe. It was also a good choice for the outdoor show, because it ended up being over ninety degrees on Saturday! Aimee Song of Song of Style asked me where I got my embroidered jeans, which apparently look way more expensive than they really are! My shoes didn’t even bother me until about four hours later, and only because it was so hot out. My outfit made me I feel like I really belonged in the fashion world, and that feeling will give me the confidence to keep experimenting with my style in the future…
I brought three tops, a jean skirt and these embroidered Primark jeans to give me combination options. Leetal surprised me with the printed Zara camisole above, which I ended up wearing later in the day!
We couldn’t believe our luck when we ran into Aimee and Dani Song on Greene Street before the RM show! They were incredibly sweet, and it was so nice to chat with them about our outfits and take pictures.
Have a great weekend! Love, Me
