Reviewed: Mermaid Mask by Leahlani Skincare

Masking is probably my favorite way to unwind and relax before bedtime.  I do a mud or sheet mask almost every day, and I love knowing that I’ll wake up with good skin the next day.  Ever since I finally got my acne under control, I’ve come to love my skin, and I take the time to pamper it.

I stumbled upon this mask in a Buzzfeed article, “26 Beauty Products That Will Make You Feel Like A Mermaid Princess”.  Anyone who knows me will understand that combining the words ‘beauty’ and ‘mermaid’ is basically a recipe for my kryptonite.  After reading this article, I bought about half the things on this list!  I tried to stick to things that were unique and wouldn’t be duplicates of what was already in my beauty arsenal, and I had nothing like this mask.

I was intrigued.  Mermaid.  Mask.  Would my skin glow like the ocean when the sun sets?  Would I sprout a glistening tail?  Would I finally achieve my lifelong dream of turning into Ariel?  Hopefully all of it.  I went onto Etsy and ordered the mask.

Leah of Leahlani Skincare and I share a similar story.  We both suffered from debilitating acne, and started looking for natural remedies.  A licensed esthetician, she worked at luxury hotels in the Hawaiian islands before starting her skincare line.  Each product is made and packaged by hand, and I could really feel that when I received my jar of Mermaid Mask.

The mask is all-natural, with ingredients like honey, algae, sea buckthorn, spirulina, and clay.  It goes on smoothly, with a gorgeous deep green hue, and has a fresh, fragrant smell.  It’s a wet mask, so it sinks into your skin but won’t ever dry into a shell like your typical mud mask.  Even though it is thick and gooey, it dissolves in water immediately, making it extremely easy to wash off.  Mermaid or just plain magic?!

This mask, in short, is amazing.  I hope that one day, I can actually go to Hawaii and see Leah for an in-personal spa experience.  Until then, her amazing skincare line will more than suffice.

XX, Gabrielle
