If you follow me on Twitter (@gfstarr1) or Instagram (@starrynight64) or you know me personally, you know that I am full-on obsessed with Hamilton! I listen to it when I wake up in the morning, when I work out, and when I commute to work or travel. I also majored in American History in college, am fascinated by the American Revolution, and I have always loved musicals, music, and singing. The show is unique in that it is mainly hip-hop, bridging the gap between two very different musical genres. It combines multiple musical styles, cultural references, and is groundbreaking in so many ways. If you’re not familiar with it, I’m sure you know someone who loves it, and I recommend checking it out on Spotify or reading some of the many articles written about it. It is so witty, beautiful, funny, and heartbreaking; it has truly changed my life.
It is notoriously difficult to see Hamilton; tickets are expensive, and the wait time is months. But now that the show is beginning to spread to other cities, I was able to go see it in Chicago, and I was blown away. I got my ticket in August and waited all these months to finally see the show, and it was so worth it. I’m listening to it as I write this post, and already trying to find tickets to go see it again!
It was so cold, but I had to walk down this beautiful street where the PrivateBank Theatre is located
I stood here and cried for a second
My cousin and I so excited – we could not stop smiling
When you have the front row of the balcony and you can’t believe how lucky you are!
You can’t tell, but I’d already cried three times before the show even started
And I cried at the end because these people are unbelievable.
Hamilton: An American Musical is beginning its nationwide tour, and I’m so excited to see it again with my family when it comes to Boston.
Have the happiest Monday – I’m still blissed out from seeing this show… Love, Me
