Reviewed: Farsali Rose Gold Elixir Radiating Moisturizer

If you’re a makeup addict like me, you follow a lot of beauty bloggers and makeup artists on Instagram.  One of my favorites is the notorious Farah Dhukai.  Not only does she do a flawless face, she also has some of the most creative and effective DIYs for skincare, haircare, and everything else beauty-full!

Being the innovator that she is, Farah wasn’t satisfied with using any old oils on her face.  So she invented her own!  She and her husband concocted the Rose Gold Elixir Radiating Moisturizer, and it has blown up the beauty world.  Like me, Farah favors a rosehip oil base, which helps with acne scarring, dark spots, fine lines, all while providing your skin with a ton of hydration.  I’ve been using plain rosehip oil on my face before bed every night for a year, and it has made such a difference with my acne scars.  To make it even better, Farah and her scientists added a few more oils: Vitamin E, pumpkin seed, lemongrass, and orange peel.  And don’t forget the stunning flakes of 24K gold…

So what did I think?  Wow!  For starters, the bottle is beautiful, so it earns a front row seat on my vanity.  When I opened it, I was hit with the delicious citrusy scent; the orange blossoms smelled like luxury, but I knew the smell wouldn’t be overwhelming.

For my first test, I decided to have a completely clean face, and just use the oil as a plain moisturizer.  I never use oil in this capacity, because my skin is already oily in the T-zone, but all in the name of science, right?  I gave the bottle a little shake before I squeezed the dropper so that I’d get some gold flakes, and patted it into my skin.  The oil sunk in and left it plump and glowing (my tan didn’t hurt either), and I didn’t really look shiny!  So far, so good.

The next day, however, was the real test.  Using the oil like some kind of wannabe makeup artist, I blended it with foundation and did a full face of makeup.  It happened to be an extremely hot day, and usually, my face is pretty oily by noon with my regular moisturizer.  But I decided to push it further by walking about ten blocks in the sun to get lunch.  Pretty badass, I know.  Even though I was shiny when I got back to my office, it was my usual level, not slick or with my makeup sliding off.  I was so impressed and excited!

So Farsali will earn a spot in my regular lineup for sure.  Anything that makes my makeup look great while helping my skin at the same time is basically a beauty unicorn, so I’m going to cherish it.
