I hate winter; I’m just not a cold weather kind of girl. After the magic of Christmas has worn off, it is really just cold, dark and gray for about three months. This means dry skin, windburn, shoveling out my car, and me just generally feeling miserable; my Seasonal Affective Disorder literally makes me SAD!
But for now, I’m trying to cherish the summer – it goes by so fast! For those of us unlucky enough to live in a region with more than one kind of weather, it is a given that your beauty routine and products change with the seasons. I talk about makeup a lot, but I’ve never actually compared my winter and summer lineups before!
Winter vs. Summer

Moisturizer: Dr. Hauschka’s Rose Cream vs. Belif True Cream Aqua Bomb
Dr. Hauschka makes a cult classic, deeply hydrating moisturizer, but in the summer, I don’t really like the feeling of heavy cream, so I swap it out for my Belif, which is a water based moisturizer of the Korean beauty phenomenon.

Masks: Glossier Moisturizing Moon Mask vs. Tony Moly Hyaluronic Sheet Mask
I actually use both of these masks year-round, but I love putting Tony Moly masks in the refrigerator and then putting them on my usually-sunburnt face – they’re so soothing. The Glossier mask is something I’ll use overnight in the winter when my face is peeling and dry, and it really gets me hydrated.
Foundation: Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick vs. None!
I don’t really wear foundation anymore. I’ll put a little on for really special occasions, but my skin really doesn’t need the extra layer anymore. It’s so funny to look back at posts from a year ago when I was still struggling with horrible acne; I feel so lucky to finally be in a good place with my skin after almost ten years of torture. I wear less makeup in general, and barely any in the summertime. It’s so freeing!

Lipstick: Nars Rita vs. Nars Heat Wave
I’m more about the no-makeup look this summer, but I always carry a red lipstick with me, because you never know when you need a little pizzazz!
I’m literally writing this post in my sweats, no makeup for the second day in a row, and I feel so good. I feel like a large percentage of my summer will be spent barefaced, and I’m so happy to be in a place where I can do that! What are your favorite seasonal products? XX, Gabrielle
I love Nars Heat Wave!!
