So in this segment of BATB, I’m going to tell you about my favorite inexpensive skincare products. There is a common misconception that expensive products will be more effective than cheaper ones, and sometime this is true. But most of the time, you can find great products on Amazon or at your local drugstore that will treat you and your wallet right! Here are my picks…
The All-Purpose Balm: Everyone needs a balm that they can slather on their lips, elbows, even face when their skin feels a little parched. I love Cerave’s Healing Ointment, which hydrates without feeling sticky or greasy.
The Perfect Moisturizer: I don’t really like primers, because I feel like they actually clog my skin and make my makeup slide off. So I need a moisturizer that will hydrate my skin and act as a good base for putting on my face. My current favorite is Embryolisse Concentrated Lait Cream. A little bit goes a long way.
If you need to get toned: I use Thayer’s Rose Petal Witch Hazel for two reasons; the smell and the skin-perfecting magical powers. Rose is great for your skin!
The Multitasking Cleanser: My biggest skincare rule is to never go to bed with my makeup on, no matter how tired and lazy I feel! Glossier’s new Milky Jelly Cleanser was created after Into the Gloss literally asked their readers what they wanted out of their ideal cleanser. Imagine how great life would be if everything worked that way! At $18, it is a bit pricier than some drugstore options, but nowhere near as expensive as my beloved Eve Lom.
The No-Frills Face Wash: So for travel, a bar of soap isn’t the most convenient option, but at home, Nubian African Black Soap is a staple in my shower. I love how clean my face is without that dry, tight feeling.
When You Don’t Not Want No Scrubs: Bad play on the TLC song “No Scrubs,” but it is what it is. Anyway, I know that in an ideal world, every woman would have Eve Lom cleanser and a Clarisonic, but in the real world, that stuff is expensive, and I know I’m lucky to have it! My favorite cheapie is Formula 10.0.6’s Three Times Sublime, which is actually a face wash, scrub, and mask, all rolled into one.
So there you have it! Let me know your favorite cheap buys; I’m always looking for new miracle workers.
