Summer Hair Care Trials

My hair is both low-maintenance and high-maintenance. Because it’s so thick and long, salon appointments take hours. But when it comes to styling, I do very little with it, especially in the summer. I usually just slick it back in a low bun (like my mom) or braid it and let it air-dry.

Because it’s so hot in the summer and I do yoga every day, I shampoo my hair almost every day now. I hate feeling like my hair is dirty; it makes me feel like I’m dirty all over! To that end, I’ve been trying a lot of new shampoos from Sephora, and I thought I’d share my thoughts…

Briogeo

This green juice-looking Be Gentle Be Kind™ Matcha + Apple Replenishing Superfood shampoo has been in my routine for a few weeks now, and I like it a lot. It’s not the best shampoo I’ve ever used, but it does a good job of really getting my scalp clean after sweaty yoga classes. I don’t love it as much as my usual deep-cleaning shampoo from Paul Mitchell, but it’s nice. Honestly, I tried it mostly because it’s made with kale!

DryBar

There are two things I know to be true. The first is that DryBar’s products smell better than almost anything in the world, and the second is that charcoal is a great detoxifier. As I write this, I have silky-soft hair that smells like heaven thanks to their On The Rocks clarifying shampoo and conditioner.

love Verb’s Ghost Oil and Sea Texture Spray, so I was really excited to try the shampoo and conditioner from the same line. The scent is very fresh, and I had some of the best beachy waves I’ve had in a long time. I think this one might become a fixture in my shower.
