Now that I’m officially in my mid-20s (jeez), I’m really trying to get in the habit of having good habits. Making and keeping routines isn’t something I’m great at, but once get over the hump and am actually in a routine, it feels really great. People always say it’s much easier to form good habits when you’re young, so here are a few of the ways I’m trying to start living my best life now!
Working Out Regularly
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I’ve been going to yoga almost every day since I moved to LA in September. It’s honestly been life-changing, and I highly recommend finding a workout that you enjoy and can stick with regularly. Yoga is a combination of therapy and fitness for me, and I’m so proud of myself for doing it regularly.
I used to love eating a frozen pizza or burrito late at night when the rest of the world was asleep. It felt like I was in my own little comfort bubble of Netflix and food. But your body doesn’t digest food as well during the hours it’s supposed to be asleep. Now I try to eat before 8 PM, and I also avoid gluten and dairy for my weight, skin, and digestion. These two changes have made a huge difference for my body, inside and out. A treat once in a while is great, but for the most part, I feel a lot better (and save a lot of money) cooking healthy meals for myself!
Taking Care of My Skin
While I do still lay out from time to time, I’m a lot more careful about sun protection. I wear SPF every single day. I also make sure to remove my makeup, wash my face, and do my skincare routine every night. I shudder to think about how I used to mistreat my skin, but all I can do is take care of it now and in the future.
I tend to get wrapped up in my own thoughts and hide when I don’t want to deal with life. But learning to confront your problems head-on is really important, and I’m trying to be braver about facing things that scare me. Being proactive in those kinds of situations is always better than waiting to get bit.
