As a Hamilton addict who grew up on RENT, Wicked, and Annie, to name a few, I always love the Tony’s. I even used to perform Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat for my family. As a one-woman show. What can I say, I think musical theater is extremely special.
But this post is about the awards show, not the shows themselves. And I noticed something very interesting on last night’s red carpet: it was all about the 80s. Draped gowns, big sleeves, loud glitz and glamour everywhere!
Olivia Wilde looking like a ruby slipper in draped Michael Kors Collection
Candice Swanepoel’s Prabal Gurung gown reminded me of a tamer version of something Cher would’ve worn

Rachel Bay Jones’ belted gown in 80s turquoise
Scarlett Johanssen rocked shoulder pads (never thought I’d write that) in Michael Kors Collection
Keltie Knight also evoked Cher in Rodarté
