Today I’m talking with Tracy Nour of She Just Knows!  Nour got her start in the fashion industry working as a buyer and product developer for big names like Kitson LA and Forever21 before going out on her own.  Her work has been featured on numerous big names including Vogue.com, WhoWhatWear, and Buzzfeed!  Tracy consults clients all over the world, doing everything from styling to helping them grow their social influence and brand. 

Tell us about yourself!

I am 28 years old living in Venice, CA with my fiancé, John, and adorable dog, Rami. I am the Founder of SHE JUST KNOWS, which is my social media management company and also the name of my Instagram account where I am an influencer for beauty, home, lifestyle & fashion.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

It changed ALL the time, but always something creative and with people. I bet my 4th-grade teacher that during the school year I wouldn’t wear the same outfit twice, so I guess you could say my interest in fashion started at a very young age. When I moved to LA, I originally wanted to be an agent in entertainment, but after learning about the hours and competition, I knew it wasn’t right for me. Once I started working in retail, everything seemed to fall into place.

How did you know it was time to go out on your own?  Tell us about SJK, and what it’s like to start your own business.  How did you get started?

I knew it was time because I just had this gut feeling. I loved my job at Forever 21, but the commute was getting to me and I had a burning desire to do something on my own. After I left, I launched SJK which was originally going to focus on personal styling. After a few months, I realized people were asking me for help with social media, so I shifted my game plan. Starting your own business is terrifying, but I didn’t give myself an option to fail – there was no back up plan. I constantly change my approaches in order to stay relevant and I listen to what people need and want from me to stay successful.

How would you describe your job and SJK to someone who knows nothing about the industry?

I would say that I have an agency that helps with internet marketing on a large platform!

How do you structure your days working for yourself?  Where and how do you do your best work?

This is always tough and I’m always changing my routine. I used to work out every morning before I started working, but we went to Japan and when I got back I totally fell off that train. Now I wake up and head straight to a coffee shop to work, they know me there now. I do my best work there, or later in the evening at home. I’m considering getting an office space, but can’t commit just yet – I love the flexibility but miss being around coworkers!

What inspires you?  Who are your biggest influences and role models?

Fashion, in general, inspires me – street style, magazines, things I see on Pinterest, being out and about… My role models are Maja Wyh, Kris Jenner, MK&A, Christine Centenera, Mira Duma, Elyse Walker, I could go on…

What’s a typical day like for you?  

Get ready, work, talk to all members of my family on the phone, create content, scroll through IG, post for my clients, watch some real crime TV, dinner with my fiancé or friends.

Tell us about your beauty routine and the products you can’t live without.

My beauty routine is always changing but right now I’m using FACILE or AmorePacific face wash, a Vitamin C serum, an acne serum from A&E Skin, ANY AND ALL MOISTURIZING SHEET MASKS!!, Neutrogena HydroGel (life saving), Murad Brightening Serum to get rid of sun spots… the list goes on…

Favorite places to travel!

Back home to Dallas to see my family, Cleveland to see my fiancés family, Japan, Paris… Dying to go to Egypt!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?  What’s the best piece of advice you’d give?

Best advice I’ve ever received is to not let fear control me and to be good to people. Advice I’d give is the same!

More collaborations with amazing brands, creating SHOP SJK, growing my social media business! Oh and getting married!
