Summer Doldrums

The beginning of summer was full of rain, and now, it’s full of insufferable, interminable steamy heat.  Boston is in the throes of daily 90-degree weather, and I’m getting a little sick of taking multiple showers just to survive it.  I’m sick of all of my summer clothes, sick of wearing makeup that melts off after an hour, and sick of trying to eat healthy, so mid-July is when I try to recharge my summer…

  1. I LOVE face masks.  Sephora sent me one of these Shiseido White Lucent Power Brightening Masks as a sample, and I fell in love.  Sure, you’ll look like a serial killer while wearing it, but it’s deliciously cool and refreshing, and you’ll have a serious glow afterwards.
  2. Nude nail polish is a tricky business.  I’ve never been able to find the right color until now.  I saw this shade on the amazing Emily Schuman’s blog, Cupcakes and Cashmere, and figured I’d give it a try since we’re both blonde and have similar coloring.  PS: her blog is wonderful.  I found it a few years ago, and I’m a regular reader.  She definitely inspired me a lot when I started thinking about blogging myself.
  3. Sugarfina is sugar heaven.  I got this cute little set a few months back, and as someone who eats a lot of gummies, I can safely say that these are the most delicious.  I made a huge order this week, and can’t wait to snack on them at the beach and in my freezer box of an apartment.
  4. I’ve posted a few maxi dresses already, but this one came in the mail from Piperlime today, and I’ve found my new go-to.  Its black, but not plain, with a sexy and creative cutout.  It also comes in a light beige/tan color, and a royal blue.  Plus, if you sign up for emails from Piperlime, you get 15% off of your first purchase!
